The problem with youth coaching currently is that it suffers from capitalism. Most of the best coaches that are able to better understand players and apply superior technical knowledge often work at the senior levels because they are able to earn more economic benefits. Casual to Pro is currently aiming to change this and bring more qualified and experienced coaches to a younger audience so as to prevent poor coaching and tedious instruction.
Furthermore, a major problem is that coaches attempt to apply adult coaching methods to junior levels which fundamentally cannot work. As a parent do you try and teach your child their first words by handing them figures and charts, no, you use ‘baby words’ and are more playful with them. The same is relevant to football, period.
Let's fix this together as coaches and parents!
Part 2 will be addressing:
- Introducing Complex Activities Too Soon
- Demanding Too Much of Young Players
